PAINT

Difference Between Latex and Oil Paints When Using "Green Paint"?

- Martha from Prescott Valley

Oil paints are commonly known as enamel paints; they are durable, easy to care for, water resistant and are commonly used in kitchens, baths, and areas of high use. Oil paints give off more VOC’s and are considered more environmentally harmful. Oil paints are often less expensive than latex paints, they take longer to dry because they contain more compounds with more known health effects. Oil paints are not cleaner or greener than latex or other natural paints and if one has health issues or is considering “green paint” oil paint should be used only when and where necessary.
