PAINT

Can we Paint Over Non-Green Paint?

We are going to repaint our interior with a green paint and we have non-green paint on the walls. Can we paint over this?

- Rick in Prescott

There are primers on the market that will seal old paint and their odor. You should prime the walls with this type of primer, allowing the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat, allowing it to dry for several days. Make sure that the zero or low VOC paint you purchase will adhere to the primer then you can paint your walls with your “green” paint.

It is important to remember that sometimes homeowners often purchase the least expensive paint and in the long run this ends up costing more. Purchasing good quality paint that is more durable has more value and will save you time and money.
